Oshkosh AirShow 2009

Flying - what can you say? It's in the Turner men's blood. So, for the past four years, Jim has traveled to Oshkosh, Wisconsin for AirVenture.

Jim drives the truck and pulls our trailer while brother-in-law, Tim McDonald, flies over in one of his planes (yellow WWII T-6 above). Tim's plane has won the EAA's Preservation Award and Judge's Apreciation Award in past years. He didn't enter the plane this year, but did have it on display for all to admire!

Here's a little clip I put together of Jim flying with Tim in his awesome T-6!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_RhwNbTUyg

They set up the trailer right on the grounds (packed like sardines) in a special area reserved for a group Tim belongs to called, "Warbirds of America". As you can see, they're super close to all the action.
Go figure, many folks asked him, "Where are the horses?" HA!

And then the two spent five days walking, talking and dreaming about AIRCRAFT!

This is a fire-fighting helicopter -a SKYCRANE, nickname: ELVIS

A link to a short demonstration of it picking up water and releasing it for the crowd: http://www.eaa.org/video/airventure.html?videoId=31269586001

An interesting plane to say the least. It's made to carry a spaceship in the center. For $200,000 they'll take you into space! Are you game??

Another Warbird plane. So shiny! Click here for more incredible pictures of Warbirds.

This is a US Customs & Boarder Control plane. It's run by remote control and flies along the boarders, taking pictures from heights of 15,000-40,000 feet of those trying to cross.

A fly over of T-28s celebrating their 50th Anniversary.Pretty cool, huh?!

Airventure's website has some really incredible pictures and videos from this year's show. Take a look if you're like Jim and Tim and you just can't get enough!
