This was the last weekend of Summer! Hard to believe, really. And Sunday was another exceptionally beautiful day! The weather here has been perfect for more than a week and it's just PURE HEAVEN when it comes to trail riding! I've been lucky enough to take Brandy and Charmer out in the timber every day this past week for a ride.
And what better way to say good-bye to summer, than a trail ride in our own back yard! Our friend Gloria brought one of her horses, Jarich, out to spend a day at the Turner Resort. Jarich is a beautiful Friesian warmblood that was brought over from Holland. She rides and shows him in dressage. But today he got to experience a little country fun! You can see how excited Jarich looks, whereas Brandy and Charmer are thinking, "MAN, haven't you had ENOUGH of this already?"
Heading down the trail! We saw a few deer, crossed small waterways and climbed some good sized hills. All the while, enjoying a light summer breeze, crickets chirping, frogs croaking and leaves slowly floating down off the trees to carpet the ground. Inhaling the woodland scents of Fall just relaxes you like nothing else I know! Gloria and Jarich seem to be having a good time!

After the wooded trails we headed down Panther Creek Road for a bit.And then Randy came out and brought Famous Dave's BBQ with him for one in one last summer picnic! Sitting outside at our picnic table, we inhaled our dinner of baked beans, corn-on-the-cob, ribs, chicken, and cornbread. MMMM-mmmm! And then moseyed on over to sit by the relaxing campfire. (can you smell the hickory wood burning?) All we were missing were the marshmallows!! - so we vowed to do it again, REAL SOON!
