Fire Dept. Sweetheart Dinner

Saturday was spent blowing ourselves out of 6-8 inches of snow. It was light and fluffy and the dogs had fun running through it.

Saturday night the Adel Fire Dept. held a spouse appreciation Sweetheart’s Dinner. Two firefighter’s wives (Michelle Mooreland, Lisa Brinkman) and a fellow firefighter/first responder (Kristin Brennen) sent out really cute invites, decorated the community center and made a fabulous homemade chicken and brisket dinner with all the fixin’s. It was really a wonderful time.
Matt Ireland, fire chief, made a nice speech to the spouses, talking about how much they appreciate our standing behind them as they get called out at all hours of the day and night, during family gatherings, dates and dinners with sick or sleepless kids and sleep deprived loved ones. At one point he had it perfectly timed to have county dispatch set off all their pagers and they all thought they had a call right then and there! It was very nicely done.
So after a very tasty and satisfying dinner with homemade sugar cookies hearts for dessert, we headed over to Kinnick’s bar to toast the evening. Thanks, again, to all those that took all the time and attention to detail to make tonight’s Sweetheart Spouse Appreciation dinner such a special night!
