Nick to fly for President

Most of you know that Jim's youngest brother, Nicholas, flies helicopters for the Marines, stationed in Hawaii. This is Nick and his beautiful wife, Kim, at the Marine Corp Ball this past fall.Nick is actually serving in the same squadron, THE UGLY ANGLES, as his Dad, Larry, was when he served as a helicopter pilot for the Marines in the Vietnam War.

Nick will be going on his second tour to Iraq/Afghanistan at the end of January for 7 months. Your thoughts and prayers for him, and his wife and kids awaiting for his safe return, would be so very much appreciated.
Nick just got word that he was selected to join HMX-1, which is the Presidential Helicopter Squadron! The Turner Family couldn't be prouder! Please join us in congratulating him! Look for him to be flying President O'Bama when he gets back from his deployment. The info below was sent to us from his wife Kim's blog, of which you are welcomed to follow as well. The link is on our blog, called: Turner Mountain West.

From Kim and Nick's Blog:

It's official...After more than 2 months, we found out that Nick was accepted into the HMX-1 Presidential Support Squadron. Based out of Quantico, Virginia. Nick will be learning how to fly 4 new helicopters and learning a new job. He will be eventually flying the president! We are very excited! It will be nice to be back on the mainland and closer to family!

Nick will be learning to fly the following helicopters below:CH-53E (top left) this aircraft is similar to the helicopter he flies now, only it's a more advanced version.VH-3D (bottom picture, upper aircraft)VH-71 Kestrel (top right). This is a new aircraft currently being tested as a new aircraft for presidential support to replace the VH-3 and the VH-60.VH-60 (bottom picture, lower aircraft)

Here is a great website that describes HMX in detail, including specifics about all the air crafts listed above: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/agency/usmc/hmx-1.htm--
