The Black Hills -June 08

We loaded up the horses on June 19th for The Black Hills of South Dakota, our favorite place to go camping and trail riding. It's a 12 hour trip, so we break it up by stopping half way. The parks we camp in are made for horses, so the girls have a safe place to sleep each night. Jim's building a fire for us here.
Most days we made it back to camp before the storms would start... not so lucky on this day. So we headed for cover under the pines. What seemed like an eternity, the hail finally ended but left enough to cover the ground like snow!
Brandy never showed any signs of lameness. In fact, there were days that Charmer had trouble keeping up with her old mom. We caught sight of elk, which is a rarity, deer, turkey, ground hogs, and of course a few buffalo.
The scenery and endless trails here take your breath away. We just can't get enough!
By the 28th, we were wishing we had a few more days... time always flies by when we're out here! We also stopped to see the progress on Crazy Horse Memorial. They've really come a long way considering. It will be amazing when its completed.
