Field of Beans - Aug. 2008

This year it was time to rotate crops. Our 15 acre field in front of our house had been in hay since we moved here in 1998 - so it was far past time. And with bean prices so high, it seemed like a good idea. So after the first hay cutting in May, we had our good friend and Farmer Extraordinaire, Steve Cochran, plant it into soy beans.

But the deer had other plans for our field. Not long after the first shoots came out of the hard ground, an announcement went out to the deer community: "Turner Soy Bean Buffet is open for business!" Stay tuned...
